The
Mystery of Mediumship -- The Discovery of Spiritual Reality
The
author's conversations with her loved ones in the Spirit world cast a new light
on the reasons why she was forced to sacrifice her career as a successful film
critic, experience political death threats, escape from the former Soviet Union,
and endure struggles to survive in the United States. One day, working on this
book, the author said somewhat humorously, "From Communist Hell to
Capitalist Hell --when I hit bottom, Heaven spoke." Heaven spoke,
revealing amazing pictures about the life in the next world.
Ruth Montgomery wrote, "Automatic writing is as mysterious as the cycle of birth and death... The source of its intelligence and the propellant which directs the pencil or typing keys is unperceivable by any of our five physical senses." Like Ruth Montgomery, I am also a professional journalist. In the former Soviet Union republic of Estonia, I reviewed films from the '60s up to 1989 when I was forced to leave the country. In exile, I resumed reviewing American films for the Estonian media in 1995, and later for VOC -- The East-European Division of Voice of America in Washington. Maybe there is something about the journalist's decades-long training to keep submission deadlines no matter what your mood is, no matter what your health is. Maybe this Spartan training prepares one to receive spirit messages in the mysterious ways of automatic typing. This communication has had an immense impact on my life. My loved ones and friends in the Spirit world introduced me to a whole new world... Death isn't the end, it is only a beginning. View Book Preface and a sample Chapter, E-Published on-line

Working at entry-level jobs, she practiced meditation, studied astrology, and had sessions with the American mediums James Van Praagh and Brian E. Hurst and the English Scole Group mediums. The healer Eetla Hein-Soracco, who works in the tradition of Indian shamans, taught her how to build a positive emotional field and keep it growing. The author's efforts resulted in spontaneous past-life recollections and communication with the spirit world.
Part Two, "The Conversations," contains direct dialogue with the spirit people. In addition to majestic pictures of dwelling places in the next world, they talk about the rescue missions of "stuck" souls in limbo. Many advanced souls from the former Soviet Union are engaged in these rescue operations. The spirit people tell about their death experiences, their reunions, their work and creativity. It seems that they want us to know about the confrontation of different value systems. It is not the amount of money in a bank account but the weight of the soul that determines an entity's level of existence in the next world. Such feelings as excessive nationalism, suppressed anger, harbored negativity, mental depression, desperation, loneliness and fearfulness increase the soul's weight and may drag it into the lower worlds. The spirit people tell about the heightened feeling of God that they found after their transition. They validate a positive attitude toward challenges on earth and describe the effect of negative thoughts, deeds and emotions in the afterlife. Both worlds are in a process of constant evolution. That means that our destinies are not written in stone. We can better our future here, and we can better it on the other side.
Among the spirit people who talked to the author were her deceased relatives and strangers, people of different nationalities and religious beliefs, most of whom had been touched by historical events such as revolutions, wars and Stalin's mass arrests. Her father and uncle were casualties of World War II. Another two uncles, victims of Stalin's mass arrests, died in Siberian labor camps. There was a renowned scientist who died in a Soviet prison and a KGB agent killed by his own kind. There is a Russian priest who died in exile. A young lawyer who died in turbulent times tells incredible stories about nonstop trials of Russian political criminals on the other side. There were famous Estonian celebrities and very private people such as the American Jewish housewife with her unforgettable story of reunion with her husband in the next world. There are also the author's two spirit guides. One of them represents Gabriel's energy. He spoke only once, suggesting tolerance and telling that in the next world it doesn't make any difference whether you are a "Jew killed by an Arab, or an Arab killed by a Jew." The other guide, Jon, died recently after a successful and very secular American incarnation. He was assigned to help the author to adjust to her new life in her new country.
This book offers hope to everyone, especially to those who must start life all over again, whatever the reason may be--divorce, the death of a spouse, layoff, loss of career, early retirement, bankruptcy, sickness, catastrophe, loss of home, exile--our worst nightmares. But the spirit people reveal a wider perspective of life: the belief that death is not the end. It is not so important what happens to us on earth. What is important is our reaction to these happenings. Everything that lightens the soul is good, every reaction that makes the soul heavier has to be examined and changed. The true miracle is that, deep down, we know that. If we can only learn to trust ourselves and listen
